Welcome to Journal for You!
Making a Pregnancy Journal With Baby Ultrasound Pictures
One of the most exciting things you will experience in your pregnancy is seeing your baby ultrasound pictures. It’s magical to see your child for the first time and watch him as he lies in the womb. In fact, many mothers want to catalogue the experiences of their pregnancy and create a scrapbook in which to place pictures and write things about their feelings. This can be a great way for you to share your experiences and something unique for your child to look at when he or she is older.

Uncovering Your Joy – Using a Personal Journal to Discover a Life Filled with Happiness
Author Tristine Rainer wrote “Happiness within a diary has less to do with the events you encounter in life than with the way you experience the process of living.” Because a diary mirrors how you perceive and deal with events, it can be used for developing the capacity to more fully experience joy.

Creating Time
Pay attention to the conversations of people around you, and notice how often the subject of time comes up:
“I’m fine, just crazy busy. . .”
“I just don’t know when I can find the time. . .”
“I can’t really talk now, I’m running late. . .”

Simplify Your Life With a “Not To Do” List!
A good friend advised me one day that when life verges on “overwhelm,” that the best course is to take one “whelm” at a time. In trying to be the best wife, mother, friend, and professional that I can be, life can get “lifey” and I am forced to sit down, center myself, and go back to basics.

Q and A with Marney Makridakis – Author of Creating Time
As regular readers of Creativity for Life know – I’m head over heels about a new book by one of my favorite online gurus/mentors, Marney Makridakis. Marney has a new book out, Creating Time: Using Creativity to Reinvent the Clock and Reclaim Your Life. I was lucky enough to have been chosen as an advance reader of this book and really, really (really!) love it.
Right now, Marney’s in the middle a big Creating Time Book Event. For all of you who haven’t been able to hear Marney talk about Creating Time personally, I thought I’d share the following Q&A with you!

Why Journaling Works
“The positive thing about writing is that you connect with yourself in the deepest way, and that’s heaven. You get a chance to know who you are, to know what you think. You begin to have a relationship with your mind.” — Natalie Goldberg

An Exceedingly Simple Guide to Keeping a Journal
I have to confess: I’ve never been good at keeping a journal. Until this year.
It’s always been something that I’ve wanted to do regularly, and over the years I’ve started journals in many different forms. I have bits of journals in several notebooks and in several computer files, but while they’re interesting, they’re more a testament to my failure to keep a journal going for very long.

No Time? Changing Time Anxiety to Time Artistry
This is a special week for a friend of mine – Marney K. Makridakis, founder of the Artella online community for creators of all kinds and the print magazine Artella. Marney is a fantastically popular speaker and workshop leader extraordinaire. She created the “ARTbundance” approach of self-discovery through art.
This week marks the launch date of Marney’s new book – Creating Time: Using Creativity to Reinvent the Clock and Reclaim Your Life! In celebration of this book, I’ll be sharing articles by Marney on the concept of time, as well as information about the book. It’s wonderful when a person you really admire offers up such an incredible work as Creating Time, and I’m pleased to share some of her work with you here on JFY!

Do you journal your kid’s life? Too busy to keep a journal? I want to suggest that you are too busy NOT to journal. Life goes by in such a whirl, our memories just can’t keep up. All those neat things that happened just last week have quickly become your past, lost in all that white noise of our fast-paced, harried lifestyles.
